FOODSTUFFS NORTH ISLAND HEAD OFFICE

CLIENT:
Hawkins
PROJECT VALUE:
• Carpentry Works: $ 6.5 Million
• Concrete Works: $ 3 Million
LOCATION:  35 Landing Drive, Mangere

The new Foodstuffs North Island (FSNI) Head Office building is another major addition to Auckland Airport’s property portfolio. The 8,500m² office building was purpose built to accommodate over 1000 office staff.

The innovative design features of the building have been designed to achieve a Green Star 5 design for both the base-build and fitout. The scope of the base build was to fulfil Auckland Airport’s necessity and the fitout was to accommodate FSNI’s aspirations.

The building includes a metro-style supermarket, click and collect lockers, a café, 2 commercial kitchens, its own bar and an events space which can host up to 300 people.

One of the most challenging aspects of the project was to construct the curved elliptical shaped atrium. Livefirm not only played an integral part in forming and pouring the slab to create this shape, but also constructed the framing, installed the lining, and topped it all off with the plastering on all levels.

Not only was this the key feature of the building but also the heart of the building which really speaks volumes as you enter the building.

The biggest achievement of this build was not only delivering this project On Time with Pride and Safety but doing so, during the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The level 4 lockdown meant the build came to a standstill.  The constraints enforced during level 3 and then level 2 meant that our site management team had to work even more collaboratively with Hawkins and the other trades to ensure that the health, safety and the wellbeing of our workforce were being met to the highest standard.

Whilst having all these unexpected circumstances and uncertainties, Livefirm were still able to meet all the key milestones of the project.
